Pre-Fair Event
1.  Cowboy Boot Hunt. Clay cowboy boots will be placed in community parks in Marshall-Putnam County before the Fair. Look for a clay cowboy boot marked
M-P FAIR 2010
. Bring the marked clay cowboy boot to the Fair Office starting July 7th thru July 11th and receive a prize. No entry fee. Prize: $10 in "Fairbucks". Those that return marked clay cowboy boots will have their name entered in a drawing for $25.

 
Tuesday, July 6
2. Nursing Home Contest. Local nursing homes and Care Givers in Marshall-Putnam County can bring up to 10 items to be displayed. Items must be made by residents with/without help. Bring items to the Art Hall from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. No entry fee. $25 prize to the place with the most points awarded.
 

Wednesday, July 7
3. Kroger Kookie Stacking Contest. Contest held in the Commercial Building at 4:00 p.m. No entry fee. Open to all ages. Must sign in. Contestant has 30 seconds to create the highest possible single stack of Oreo cookies. Sponsored by Your Chillicothe Kroger Store.
 

Thursday, July 8 - Saturday, July 10

4. Gold Nugget Guess. Guessing game for all ages. No entry fee.  Prize: $10 in fairbucks.  Winner announced at 5:00 pm each day. Contest held at the Hospitality Area in the Commercial Building.
 

Thursday, July 8

5. Kids Korral Rodeo.
Activities begin at 4:00 p.m. For children ages 11 and under. Prizes given. Contest held near west end of grandstand. No entry fee.

   Water Trough Relay
   Bale Toss
   Bronco Ropin'


Friday, July 9
 

6. Buckin' Bronco Follies. Games for children ages 10 and under to be held in the Tri-Court area, east of the Hunt Building at 1:00 p.m. No entry fee. Prizes will be given.

7. Crazy Cookie Decorating Contest. Contest for children ages 12 and under. No entry fee. Decorate cookies (all items provided). Prizes given. Contest held in Hunt Building at 1:30 p.m. Sponsored by Oak State Products.

8. Wild West Search Contest. For children ages 12 and under. No entry fee. Prizes given. Contest begins in the Hunt Building at 2:00 p.m.

9. Sheriff Badge Decorating Contest. Contest for children ages 12 and under. No entry fee. Decorate a badge (all items provided). Contest held in the Hunt Building at 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 10
10. Red Hat Ladies. Open to Red Hat Ladies. Parade and judging of creative red hat and costume. Contest will start in the Hunt Building at 10:00 a.m.

11. Taste of M-P Fair Cook-Off. All ages. $2 entry fee. Check in and set up from 9 - 10 a.m. at the Hunt Building. Judging from 10 a.m. - noon. Winners announced at 12:00 noon.  Bring item already prepared and have a written recipe, one with name on it and one without name for display (does not need to be an original). Four feet of table space will be provided to display food and decorate. Judging will be on taste, originality of motif, and appearance.
Five categories:

Viva Italia (sponsored by Windsor Foods, Inc. in Toluca, IL) - any food item using Windsor food products.

Wild About Herbs (sponsored by Illinois Valley Herb Guild in Standard, IL) - any food product using herbs.

The Great Pumpkin (sponsored by Seneca Processed Food in Princeville, IL) - any food item using pumpkin.

Home On The Range (sponsored by PC Foods in Granville, IL) - any baked bean recipe.

Saddle Bag Treats  (for kids only ages 8 to 14) (sponsored by St. Joseph Nursing Home in Lacon, IL) - any snack, dip or salsa.

Prizes: 1st - $50, 2nd - $30, 3rd - $20

12. Raw Potato Decorating Contest. No entry fee. Three age groups - 7 years and under; 8 years thru 13 years; 14 years to Adult. Twenty minutes to decorate
raw potato with edible materials provided or bring your own. Contest will be held
at 3:00 p.m. in the Activity Building. Prizes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd (each age group).
